Does OCR check whether my passport photo or upload file will be accepted by the official site?
No. eVisaFlow OCR helps read passport MRZ data for profile creation. It does not judge whether a passport photo, portrait photo, supporting document, or upload file meets the official website requirements. Check the official website instructions before paying or submitting.
Can OCR read visas, entry stamps, or documents without an MRZ?
No. eVisaFlow OCR is designed for the machine-readable zone on a passport data page. It is not a general document scanner for visa stickers, entry stamps, receipts, supporting documents, or pages without an MRZ.
Does a failed OCR scan consume a credit?
Yes. Once an OCR request is processed, it can count even if recognition fails. It uses one OCR allowance: Pro monthly scans are used first when available, otherwise one purchased OCR credit is used. Before uploading, make sure the image is clear and complete, and contains only the passport biodata page with the photo and MRZ.
If Pro includes OCR, why would I buy OCR credits?
Pro includes monthly OCR scans for repeated use. OCR credit packs are optional one-time purchases for people who only need occasional passport scans, or for accounts that want extra scans without changing the subscription. When both are available, Pro monthly scans are used before purchased credits.
Do monthly Pro OCR scans roll over?
No. Monthly Pro OCR scans reset each subscription billing cycle, and unused scans do not roll over. If you need more scans before the next reset, you can buy OCR credit packs; purchased credits do not expire.
What happens if I use all Pro OCR scans before the next reset?
You can wait for the next subscription billing cycle, when the monthly Pro OCR scans reset, or buy an OCR credit pack for extra scans. Saved passport profiles and autofill still work while you are out of Pro OCR scans.
What are OCR credits?
OCR credits are purchased scan credits for passport OCR requests. The free plan does not include OCR credits. You can purchase credit packs from the pricing page, and they work for both free and Pro accounts. Pro monthly scans are used before purchased credits when both are available.
What passport image works best for OCR?
Use a clear, complete image of the passport biodata page, including the photo and MRZ. Keep the page flat and well lit, and avoid blur, glare, shadows, fingers covering the page, cropped edges, or images that include multiple passport pages.
Can I edit OCR results before saving?
Yes. OCR helps prefill passport fields, but you should review the extracted details before saving a passport profile or using autofill. You remain responsible for checking the information before submitting anything on an official website.
